Dear Local Business Owner,
I am writing on behalf of CASA, Community Action for Safe Alternatives (formally known as Community Against Substance Abuse), to invite you to participate in our town-wide Spring Cleaning Event, Saturday, May 14th from 12 – 4 PM at Ingleside Park. CASA is a community coalition in Winthrop supporting youth and families in making healthy decisions! Our Coalition members have decided to host a Spring Cleaning event focused on helping our community come together to facilitate a springtime beginning that focuses on positive and healthy choices and lifestyle habits.
The spring season is all about a fresh start and we want our town to have the opportunity to clean out more than their closet this year! We are asking business owners to come down and set up a way to interact with community members and provide any type of service or resources that benefit the mind, body or soul. It is also an excellent opportunity for local businesses to get their name out there as well as a chance to reach folks in the Winthrop Community to provide services!
Getting involved is easy! Just send an email or call me to let me know that you are interested in participating, and what you plan to offer that day. There is no fee to participate or attend and CASA will be handling all of the advertisements for the event. If you decide to participate, you will be responsible for the set up and break down of any materials you choose to bring (i.e. tents, tables, trash).
The purpose of this event is to educate and provide tools to our community members that encourage health choices. It is not expected that any provider will provide personal services.
Our vision for the event is to bring together (just to name a few!):
- Fitness demonstrations (Zumba, Kickboxing-etc)
- Pro-social activity groups for youth and adults (arts & crafts, games-etc)
- healthy food options
- Holistic Providers
- Martial Arts & Self-Defense
